Families registered on the Section 8 waiting list that are experiencing homelessness may elect to designate themselves homeless to receive the LACDA’s local homeless preference. Families selected under the homeless preference must be verified as Homeless through the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority's (LAHSA) Coordinated Entry System (CES). LAHSA CES information can be found at https://www.lahsa.org/get-help?ref=ces

PUBLIC HOUSING WAITING LISTS ANNOUNCEMENT
The Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA) will open and begin accepting registrants for its Public Housing program’s 16 Site-Based Waiting Lists (SBWL) that include general occupancy and elderly-designated properties. Registrants may choose, based on eligibility, to register to one or more of the 16 SBWLs beginning August 17, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. through September 16, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., or until a sufficient number of registrations have been received, whichever occurs first. This is not for the waiting list for the Section 8 Program, which remains closed.
